Pat Riddell, editor of National Geographic Traveller (UK), said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e thrilled to launch our photography competition for the fifth year running. Each year the standard of entries exceeds our expectations and puts the spotlight on the shortlist, whether they鈥檙e professional or amateur. Last year鈥檚 grand prize winner, Alecsandra Raluca Dragoi,聽has just returned from a photographic commission for us in Kenya鈥檚 Masai Maria.
鈥淭his year we have a whole host of commissions up for grabs, from Tanzania and Vietnam to Italy, Iceland and Abu Dhabi. And having included our new categories of video, portfolio and mobile, we鈥檙e expecting this year鈥檚 competition to be our most exciting yet.鈥
The independent judging panel consists of Carol Enquist, National Geographic鈥檚 photo editor and Steve Davey, professional photographer, writer and tutor. National Geographic Traveller鈥檚 art editor Chris Hudson will devise the shortlist and will have the final decision.
